Been wreckin shit for years but I don't get no credit. -Bun B
Best in the world is a testament to Bun B's dedication to the craft. Over an absolutely inspired Statik Selektah sample choice, Bun gets busy continuing the roll he's been on lately but when is he never not on one, let's be honest.
Listen to Pharrell as he answers questions and basically unfolds the great map that is his brain at the Midem music business conference in Cannes, France. This interview is long but his words moved me a few different times. Its def worth it to take a look as he talks about traveling, the music industry, the importance of be technologically literate, and life in general.
Misters Nasir Jones and Damian Marley, known together for their dope collabo "Road To Zion" (video below), are coming with a new album called Distant Relatives, an inspired project meant to recognize the Pan-African sentiment they share and hope to spread on 4/20/2010. Below are two songs from the upcoming album to get you in that mindstate.
1st up is "As We Enter", an uptempo banger reminiscent of K'naan's "ABCs". Nas and Damian trade back and forth bars over this and it sounds great. As We Enter http://usershare.net/xgj2451ydug9
And 2nd, "Strong Will Continue", which has a rebel march feel to it. The instrumentation here is pretty perfect, and the message is inspirational. Strong Will Continue http://usershare.net/j8u6dbta4pzw
Ludacris is back to takeover with How Low, the new video for the first single off Battle of the Sexes. The video was directed by Dave Meyers ("Stand Up", countless Missy Videos) and has a creative ghostbusters feel to it. Plus, Luda just dropped a new mixtape full of freestyles, remixes and original songs for you to ride to. It's good to see him having fun again. Back with the sequel to his track Mafia Music, Rick Ross delivers more coke rap over smooth production for his upcoming album Teflon Don. He continues to play the drug overlord character we've grown to accept - If the formula aint broke, why fix it? If Ross keeps choosing the perfect beat he will release a good album everytime.
Two days late, but perfect video and song as a celebration of Dr. King's dream. Despite what the music industry thinks, the audience wants more and expects more from hip hop; Clipse is definitely living up to it.
If you haven't copped Till the Casket Drops, you should. Album is dope and not getting enough buzz. Support hip hop.
Jim Jones has been earning my respect as a rapper despite his beef with the Almighty Hov. Here he teams with The Game for Certified Gangstaz part 2 off The Ghost of Rich Porter which drops tomorrow.
Here's a trailer for the new Nappy Roots project coming 4/20. These brothers have always made funky, soulful Hip Hop and I anticipate their return to the rap scene.
Timbaland brings out the Clipse for some hometown love at the Norva in Norfolk VA on January 15th. Watch for I'm Good and Popeye's off Til the Casket Drops. Virginia is for hustlers.
Although Mos Def's The Ecstaticis getting little publicity, and his singles little radio play, he's still busting out with nice music video's. This Blackstar reunion is hot.
